Roughly a third of GLP-1 patients stop within the first few months. If your provider took twelve months upfront to give you its lowest rate, the refund policy is not fine print, it is the most financially significant document in the transaction.
Why this matters more than it used to
Two years ago most GLP-1 telehealth was billed monthly. Today the lowest advertised rates almost universally require a long prepayment: Cora Health's $99 needs $1,188 upfront, Ondra Health's $96 needs $1,149, REMEVi's $179 is billed as $1,074 every 24 weeks, and AltRx's best rates require six or twelve-month commitments.
That has moved the risk from the provider to you. If you stop after eight weeks because of side effects, because your circumstances change, or because you simply do not respond, what happens to the remaining ten months is entirely determined by a policy most people never read.
The one constraint every provider shares
Compounded medication that has been prepared and labelled for you specifically cannot be returned, restocked or resold. That is a pharmacy regulation rather than a commercial choice, and no provider can waive it. Federal and state pharmacy rules generally prohibit the return of prescription medication under any circumstances.
So the meaningful question is never can I return medication. It is what happens to the portion of my prepayment covering medication that has not yet been compounded.
Ask this exact question
If I cancel in month three of a twelve-month plan, how much of my payment is refunded, and how is that figure calculated? A provider that can answer precisely has a real policy. A provider that answers with cancel anytime has not answered the question.
What published policies actually say
| Provider | Cancellation | Refund position |
|---|---|---|
| Cora Health | Cancel or pause anytime by message or email | Full refund before first shipment or if found ineligible. Prepaid plans refunded for undelivered batches, with received doses rebilled at the quarterly rate. Quarterly plans not refundable once prepared. |
| Ondra Health | Limited window before the prescription reaches the pharmacy | Once a prescription is transmitted, all charges are final, including consultation, platform, medication, pharmacy processing and shipping. |
| SkinnyVIP | Nothing to cancel; no auto-renewal | Full refund if a clinician does not prescribe. You only pay if treatment is approved. |
| REMEVi | Cancel any time, no contracts or cancellation fees | A refund policy is published; the 24-week plan is billed as one payment, so confirm the position on undelivered months. |
| Embody | Not published in detail | A 100% refund policy and weight loss money-back guarantee are advertised, with qualifying conditions to check. |
| Shed | Subscription terms linked from navigation | A 120-day guarantee of 5% weight loss or your money back, explicitly subject to terms. |
| AltRx | Cancel-anytime language used prominently | No dedicated refund or cancellation policy page located at the time of review. |
| Coby Health | Cancel-anytime on monthly plans | No refund policy published. |

The three policy archetypes
1. Pro-rated with rebilling
The fairest structure, and the least common. Cora Health's policy refunds undelivered three-month batches while rebilling doses you already received at its standard quarterly rate, so you keep the long-term discount only by completing the plan. It also caps your exposure: you are never charged more than you originally paid. Because shipments are batched, refunds are largest early and can reach zero once most doses have shipped.
2. Final on transmission
The strictest structure. Ondra Health states that once a prescription has been approved and sent to a pharmacy, all charges are final and non-refundable, including consultation fees, platform and administrative fees, medication, pharmacy processing and shipping. There is a narrow window to cancel before transmission, which Ondra explicitly says it cannot guarantee will be completed in time.
3. No commitment to refund because there is no commitment
The structural solution. SkinnyVIP does not auto-bill or auto-renew, so there is nothing to cancel and nothing to reclaim. Figure Weight Loss charges per visit. This removes the refund question entirely, at the cost of a slightly higher per-month price than the deepest prepaid rates.
Money-back guarantees are not refund policies
Several providers advertise weight-loss guarantees: Embody's money-back guarantee, Shed's 120-day promise of 5 percent weight loss or your money back. These are marketing instruments with qualifying conditions, typically requiring documented adherence, continuous treatment and sometimes specific diet or activity logging.
Read the qualifying conditions first
A guarantee that requires uninterrupted treatment for 120 days does not help someone who stops at week six because of nausea, which is the most common reason people stop. Treat guarantees as a bonus if you qualify, not as protection against the scenario you are most likely to face.
What to ask before you prepay anything
- How much of a twelve-month prepayment is refundable if I cancel in month three?
- How is that figure calculated, and are already-received doses rebilled at a higher rate?
- Are consultation, platform and administrative fees refundable separately from medication?
- How far ahead is medication compounded, since anything already prepared is generally unrefundable?
- What is the deadline to stop a shipment before it is prepared?
- If a clinician declines to prescribe, is my payment refunded in full?
- Is the refund paid to my original payment method or as account credit?
The account-credit detail worth noticing
Cora Health offers refunds either as cash back to the original payment method or as account credit worth 15 percent more. That is a reasonable offer and also a reminder to check the default: a policy that pays refunds only in credit is materially different from one that returns money, particularly if you are leaving because the treatment did not suit you.
Our practical advice
Pay month-to-month for the first two or three months. The premium over an annual rate is typically $150 to $250 across that period, which is far less than the amount at risk in a prepaid year abandoned early. Once you know you tolerate the medication and are responding, switch to the longer commitment with the refund policy read and understood.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I return unused GLP-1 medication for a refund?
No. Compounded medication prepared and labelled for you specifically cannot be returned, restocked or resold under federal and state pharmacy regulations. This applies to every provider, so the meaningful question is what happens to prepaid medication that has not yet been compounded.
Which GLP-1 provider has the best refund policy?
Of those we have reviewed, Cora Health publishes the most detailed and most favourable: full refund before first shipment or if found ineligible, and pro-rated refunds on prepaid plans with received doses rebilled at the standard quarterly rate.
Which has the strictest policy?
Ondra Health, which states that once a prescription has been transmitted to a pharmacy all charges are final and non-refundable, including consultation, platform, medication, pharmacy processing and shipping fees.
What happens if I cancel an annual plan in month three?
It depends entirely on the provider. At Cora Health you would be refunded for undelivered batches with received doses rebilled at the quarterly rate. At a provider with a final-on-transmission policy, you may recover nothing. Ask for the specific calculation before prepaying.
Are weight-loss money-back guarantees worth relying on?
Only if you read the conditions. They typically require documented adherence and continuous treatment for the full period, which does not help the most common scenario of stopping early because of side effects.
How can I avoid the refund question entirely?
Use a provider with no subscription, such as SkinnyVIP, which does not auto-bill or auto-renew, or a per-visit model like Figure Weight Loss. You pay slightly more per month but nothing is at risk.
Should I ever prepay for a year?
Once you know you tolerate the medication and are responding, and once you have read the refund policy. Prepaying before you have taken a single dose puts a four-figure sum at risk against an outcome you cannot yet predict.
